Dear IABC DC Metro Members,
With the start of 2026, I’m grateful for what we’ve achieved together. Your dedication to learning, connection, and leadership continues to strengthen our community of strategic communicators in the Washington, D.C., metro area and beyond. Because of you, our chapter remains a vibrant space for growth, collaboration, and impact.
Reflecting on 2025:
Last year, our members participated in a diverse array of events designed to advance communication practices, build community, and spark new ideas:
☑️ Member-Focused Networking: We reconnected in person at a half-dozen IABC DC Metro happy hours across the region.
☑️ Professional Development Webinars: Members engaged in expert learning through virtual events like “The Communicator’s AI Roadmap: Forecasting, Personas and Practical Strategy” and “Why Most Podcasts Fail (And How Yours Can Succeed).”
☑️ Truth in Common Speaker Series: We co-sponsored the organization’s webinars, including “Navigating a Polluted Information Ecosystem: Tips for Communicators” and “Communicating at a Time of Instability.”
☑️ IABC World Conference: Many members joined peers from around the world at June’s World Conference in Vancouver.
☑️ Grateful for Our Partners: A special thank you to Capitol Communicator, Rebecca Bultsma, Doug Downs, IABC Philadelphia, Potomac Tech Wire, PRSA NCC, and Truth in Common, each of whom collaborated with us on programming.
At the Start of 2026:
I encourage you to carry 2025’s momentum into the new year by engaging in events, advancing your professional development, and connecting with fellow communicators.
Thank you for an inspiring year. I look forward to seeing all that we will accomplish together in 2026.
Warm Regards,
Giuseppe Laviano
President, IABC DC Metro
