Misinformation: How we got here and what to do about it

Deanna Troust will share insights on how the mis/disinformation epidemic has evolved and the associated risks, based on several years of work with disinformation researchers and community members alike. She offers tips on what listeners can do to help stem the falsehoods that are currently restricting access to fact-based content for so many. Communicators have largely been left out of current solutions to disinformation, yet as experts in information channels and the content-creation process are ideally equipped to take a stand for the truth.

Deanna is founder of 3 Stories Communications, a consultancy focused on DEI-related communications and solutions to the mis/disinformation epidemic. She recently launched a new nonprofit, Truth in Common, that forwards human-centered approaches to addressing mis/disinformation that include a workshop series, newsletter, digital community and advisory services. With applications for both businesses and community groups, a key focus of Truth in Common is harnessing the power of professional communicators to help tackle this global issue.
